Day 10 of 100 1

8:00 AM

Today is the last day of my first 10-day sprint (from the Freedom Journal).  Only 9 more to go for this challenge!  Hard to believe it’s been 10 days already.  I’ll take weight and measurements tomorrow and see how I did.  Then it’s time to kick it up a notch and focus in on some of my goals harder.

This morning I’ve felt completely spoiled.  Shawn woke up with the dogs and quietly took them out of the bedroom and let me sleep.  When I woke up at 7:00 he had already fed them, taken them out, made breakfast (had my eggs staying warm in the oven), showered, and was dressed for work!  I felt like I hit the lottery!!  Amazing what an extra hour or two of sleep will do!

On the agenda today?  Run.  Maybe do that back/bi workout I skipped yesterday. Study for EMT class. And household stuff like laundry…

Well, the day has been pretty darn productive so far. I had a GREAT run today.  I opted for some interval work today.  My usual method on the treadmill is to warm up for a minute, then do 3 minutes at an easy pace, 2 minutes at a medium/hard pace, and a minute at tempo pace.    I ended up doing the last few rounds faster than the first which is usually what happens.  Then I finish off whatever mileage I wanted to do at an easy pace.  Here’s what that looked like today:

3 minutes @ 5.5 (11:00 pace)
2 minutes @ 6.0 (10:00 pace)
1 minute @ 6.5 (9:15 pace)

3 minutes @ 6.0 (10:00 pace)
2 minutes @ 6.3 (9:30 pace)
1 minute @ 6.7 (9:00 pace)

3 minutes @ 6.0 (10:00 pace)
2 minutes @ 6.5 (9:15 pace)
1 minute @ 7.0 (8:30 pace)

3 minutes @ 6.0 (10:00 pace)
2 minutes @ 6.5 (9:15 pace)
2 minutes @ 7.0 (8:30 pace)  – did an extra minute because I felt good and it was my last set.

finished off the 3 miles @ 6.0.  I had about a 1/4 of a mile left at this point.   Overall that put me at 3 miles at 29:06.  Which is roughly an average pace of 9:40.   I’m very pleased with that progress.


After running, I managed to squeak in a short back workout. Not a full workout, but at least a little something to make up for yesterday.  I did 3 sets of one arm dumbbell lat rows, and 3 sets of reverse flies.

Then I came in and ate a black bean burger for lunch and started some laundry.  I spent the rest of the afternoon working outside.  Planted my new cherry trees, so lots of digging and moving compost from the pile to the hole.  Also transplanted some other plants into the garden.  Tony enjoyed just hanging out watching me.  He’s such a goofy cat.  Now for a shower!


10:00 pm

Got home a few minutes early from class.  Had a bowl of left over sweet potato chili for dinner before I left and took a little baggie of multi-grain cheerios and raisins to munch on in class.  I’ve been really good about drinking water lately.  Today I probably drank 1 1/2 gallons!  My body is finally adjusting and I don’t have to pee every 5 minutes!  I’m heading off to bed… I’ll take my weight and measurements in the morning before I post :)

Morning of Day 11 – 6:00 AM

In 10 days, I’ve lost 3.6 pounds!  I’ve also lost 1″ of my waist and 1/2″ of my hips.  PROGRESS!!!
